PLAYA DE CANYAMEL

Un poco más al norte que Cala Millor, siguiendo la misma autovía y pasando Son Servera, encontramos un pequeño paraíso refugiado por las montañas y los pinos.
En Canyamel es donde nace el sol de Mallorca. Su nombre proviene del proceso de producción de azúcar que duró siete años aproximadamente en 1473, ya que “canyamel” en español significa caña de azúcar.

CALLA MILLOR

Siguiendo nuestro camino hacia el norte de la isla, la próxima cala que os muestro es una zona bastante turística pero a la vez bonita.

Cala Millor se encuentra al este de Mallorca a 60 km aproximadamente de Palma. Para llegar hasta la playa deberemos coger la autovía MA-15 pasando por los pueblos de: Algaida, Montuiri, Vilafranca de Bonany, Manacor, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, hasta Son Servera, donde tendremos que desviarnos en la salida MA-4030 hasta la bahía. No existe ninguna dificultad para llegar a la playa; las carreteras están asfaltadas y perfectamente señalizadas.

Cala Millor is situated east of Mallorca at 60 km away from Palma. To reach the beach we take the MA-15 highway through the towns of: Algaida, Montuiri, Vilafranca de Bonany, Manacor, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, to Son Servera, where we make a detour at exit MA-4030 to the beach. CALA DOMINGOS

Siguiendo por el sureste de Mallorca, y dentro de lo que son las Calas de Mallorca, la próxima cala que os presento es: Cala Domingos.

La había oído nombrar por mis amigos locos por el surf; sí, igual que la película; pero no fui hasta el pasado mes de agosto. Situada entre Porto Cristo y Portoclom, Cala Domingos es una bonita playa de arena blanca y fina, en realidad podría decirse que está formada por dos calas, en una zona semiurbana con un pequeño paseo al borde del mar.

Al contrario que en Cala Varques, en esta, al ser más turística, no están permitidos los animales de compañía (aunque sí puede llevárselo a las rocas).

If you prefer a panoramic view of the Mediterranean, forget the sand, though not as soft , spread your towel on the rocks that stand between the two bays. A perfect place to think and enjoy the sea.
Unlike in Cala Varques, this cove, being more tourist are not allowed pets (although you can take it to the rocks).

CALA BARQUES

A diferencia de la última publicación en la que me ceñí a describiros brevemente las que, según criterio personal, son las playas o calas más bonitas del sur, esta vez me centraré en la que, repito según mi punto de vista, está dentro de las 10 playas más bonitas de Mallorca.

La playa que os presento es: Cala Varques. Situada en el municipio de Manacor (nombre que habréis oído por el tenista malloquín Rafa Nadal) se encuentra a una hora aproximada de Palma; aunque en autobús el tiempo se alarga considerablemente. Se debe seguir siempre la dirección hacia Calas de Mallorca, hasta llegar a la salida MA-4014. Hay que estar atentos y girar a la derecha en la primera travesía que encontremos (no esperéis que esté asfaltada). Al final del camino encontraréis una puerta de metal cerrada con cadena y un candado; si empujáis, la puerta se abrirá suficientemente como para pasar. Desde ese punto hasta la playa deberéis bajar por un sendero, está bien marcado, durante 20 minutos. Y una vez en la playa, solo os queda disfrutar del paisaje.
No es extraño que hayáis oído que en la cala veréis vacas; antes era así. Hasta hace dos años bajaban durante el día hasta que caía la noche. Actualmente, debido a la numerosas quejas recibidas en el ayuntamiento de Manacor por las heces y las molestias que causaban, los únicos visitantes son las personas.

Mide unos 70 metros de largo y 50 de ancho. De arena y grava, está rodeada de vegetación mediterránea sin construcción a la vista. Es importante advertir que es una playa en la que se permite el nudismo aunque abunden más aquellos que prefieren no practicarlo. Están permitidos los animales de compañía (perros).

Pero eso no es todo. Podéis ir a nado o andando, tarde o temprano os tendréis que dar un chapuzón, para entrar en el pequeña cueva subterránea que aguarda. Pocas veces tendréis la oportunidad de ver algo así; la mezcla de roca, estalactitas y agua cristalina hace de ella un lugar especial.

Recordad que solo las personas podemos lograr que lugares como este existan durante mucho más tiempo. No os olvidéis de recoger los excrementos del perro, en el caso de que lo llevéis y de recoger las bolsas de basura (al final de la travesía encontraréis dos cubos).

SOUTH OF MALLORCA

SUR DE MALLORCA.

Mallorca es una pequeña isla ,que junto a Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera y Cabrera, forma parte de las Islas Baleares. Los mallorquines suelen llamarla "la roquita" o "el cabrito" (por su forma).

El sur es su parte más turística, a excepción de Alcudia y el puerto de Pollença al norte, y es donde se encuentra la ciudad de Palma.

Las principales playas son las de: la bahía de Palma, el Arenal, Cala Major y Palma Nova; pero a mi parecer, las que deben ser visitadas son: Son Caliu, Portals Nous, Andratx, Portals Vells, Illetas y Cala Major.

Aquí os dejo fotos de las playas y opinad vosotros mismos:

Mallorca is a small island next to Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and Cabrera islands form part of Balerares. The Mallorcan people usually call "the stone" or "The goat" (in shape).

CALITA SON CALIU

Esta es la calita Son Caliu donde mi amigo Aless y yo pasamos este fin de semana. Se encuentra en el municipio de Calvià, en PalmaNova.

DESCRIPCIÓN: cala de rocas con poca arena.

ACCESO: fácil. Los autobuses 103,104,106,107 y 111 hacen parada en Son Caliu; en coche por autopista tiene opción de girar en los desvíos de: Costa d'en Blanes o de PalmaNova (entre las rotondas 5 y 6).

VENTAJAS: Agua limpia todo el año y tranquilidad.

INCONVENIENTES: Las construcciones cercanas a la costa.

This is Son Caliu's cove, where I have been with my friend Aless this week. Located in the municipality of Calvià, in PalmaNova.

DESCRIPTION: Rocky cove with a bit of sand.

ACCESS: Easy. Buses 103, 104, 106, 107 and 111 stop in Son Caliu; on the motorway you have options to rotate: Costa d'en Blanes or PalmaNova (between 5 and 6 roundabouts).

ADVANTAGES: Clean water all year and tranquility.

DISADVANTAGES: Buildings near the coast.

PORTALS NOUS Y PUERTO PORTALS

La playa de Portals Nous o puerto Portals está situada entre Palma Nova y Bendinat en el municipio de Calvià. El puerto es conocido por las lujosas embarcaciones ancladas durante todo el año, propiedades de famosos del calibre de Catherine Zeta Jones, Claudia Schiffer, Luis Figo, entre otros.

DESCRIPCIÓN: Playa larga de arena con sombrillas y chiringuito de verano (playa); gran lujo de embarcaciones y conjunto de restaurantes de calidad.

ACCESO: Fácil. Los autobuses 103, 104, 106 y 111 de la compañía Transabus hacen parada en Portals Nous. En coche por autopista se debe girar en el devío de Costa d'en Blanes aunque también puede ir por la carretera secundaria.

VENTAJAS: Aguas limpias todo el año y espacio para bolley-playa.

INCONVENIENTES: Al estar resguardada por una pared de tierra, en verano la calor se concentra.

The beach of Portals Nous and Puerto Portals is located between PalmaNova and Bendinat in the municipality of Calvia. DESCRIPTION: Long sandy beach with umbrellas and beach bar summer (beach); luxury boats and all types of restaurants.

ANDRATX

Andratx pertenece al municipio de Calvià. Tiene un puerto extenso y un paseo al borde del mar con un carril bici que facilita el paseo en ciclo o caminando sin correr ningún peligro y da la posibilidad de llegar a las distintas calas de la zona.

DESCRIPCIÓN: Playa de roca aislada de la ciudad (Cala Blanca). Nudista

ACCESO: Medio. Tiene un servicio público bastante precario donde el único autobús que pasa es el 102 de Transabus; en coche se tarda aproximadamente 35 minutos desde Palma si se va por la autopista.

VENTAJA: Lejos del barullo de la ciudad.

INCONVENIENTES: El difícil acceso con el servicio público del municipio. Si no es partidario del nudismo es mejor elegir otra de las playas que se encuentran enla zona como: Cala Cranc, Cala Basset, Cala Molins, entre otras.

Andratx belongs to the municipality of Calvià. It has a large port and a seaside promenade where it's easy go cycling or walk without running any risk and gives the possibility to reach the various coves of the area.

DESCRIPTION: isolated rocky beach of the city (Cala Blanca). Nudist.

ACCESS: Medium. It has precarious public service where the only bus that passes there is102 from Transabus company; by car takes about 35 minutes from Palma if you go by highway.

ADVANTAGE: Far from the din of the city.

DISADVANTAGES: The difficult access with public service. If you don't like nudism is, better to choose other beaches that are in the area as: Cala Cranc, Cala Basset, Cala Molins, among others.

PORTALS VELLS

Siguiendo en el municipio de Calvià, Portals Vells se localiza entre las zonas de PalmaNova y Son Ferrer. A diferencia del resto, hay amplias zonas verdes y poca edificiación. Hay dos playas principales: la playa del Mago y la playa de Portals Vells, una al lado de la otra. En la primera fotografía un grupo de amigos se toman un refresco en el chiringuito de Porals Vells.

DESCRIPCIÓN DE AMBAS: Las dos playas son de arena rodeadas de vegetación mediterránea. La playa de Portals Vells dispone de un chiringuito de playa mientras que en la del Mago se encuentran tres cuevas marinas de fácil acceso.

ACCESO: Difícil. Para ir en servicio público tan solo dispone de una línea de autobús: 107 cuya frecuencia es de aproximadamente 1h. En transporte privado es necesario un mapa ya que se necesita desplazarse por carreteras secundarias y por vías privadas.

VENTAJAS: Playas idealdes para acampar o para pasar un día en familia.

INCONVENIENTES: El transporte público. La playa de Portals Vells es nudista.

Continuing in the municipality of Calvià, Portals Vells is located between areas of Palma Nova and Son Ferrer. Unlike the rest, there are large green areas and small buildings. ILLETAS

Illetas se encuentra entre Bendinat y Cala Nova, y establece el límite entre los municipios de Calvià y de Palma.

DESCRIPCIÓN: Está formada por tres playas; la más bonita de ellas, cala Contesa. Las tres son de arena blanca, todas con chiringuito.

ACCESO: Fácil. Es uno de los extremos del recorrido de la línea 3 de la compañía EMT de Palma (de color azul y gris) con una frecuencia máxima de 5 minutos.

VENTAJAS: Agua turquesa y fresca. No frecuentan las medusas.

INCONVENIENTES: En las horas puntas es difícil encontrar aparcamiento y la playa está saturada.

Illetas is between Bendinat and Cala Nova, and establishes the limit between the towns of Calvià and Palma city.

DESCRIPTION: It consists of three beaches, the prettiest of them, Cala Contesa. All three are white sand and with beach bar.

ACCESS: Easy. It is one end of the route of the line 3 of the company EMT of Palma (blue and gray) with a maximum frequency of 5 minutes.

ADVANTAGES: turquoise and fresh water. There are usually no jellyfish.

DISADVANTAGES: At noon is difficult to find parking and the beach is saturated

CALA MAJOR

Cala Major, la playa ideal del sur para practicar el surf y el skim. Situada dentro del municipio de Palma, es la playa más cercana a la ciudad con aguas cristalinas.

DESCRIPCIÓN: Larga playa de arena rodeada por dos hoteles de lujo y una pared de tierra.

ACCESO: Fácil. La línea 3 de la EMT tiene una parada en Cala Major. En coche tiene dos opciones: la primera, nada más salir de la ciudad encuentra un desvío hacia Marivent o entrando en autopista encontrará enseguida otro desvío con dirección a Cala Major.

VENTAJAS: Cerca la ciudad, aguas limpias, supermercados y restaurantes cerca.

INCONVENIENTES: Hay que tener cuidado en los meses julio y agosto con los robos. No dejar nunca las pertenencias sin vigilancia.
